'The River is an initiative of visual artist Stacey Zass and orchestral composer Benedict Deane-Johns. This collaboration sees the coming together of two artists who are established, successful and well recognised in their respective fields, and both the artwork and the score have been designed to inform and complement the other. This installation explores the nature of the river environment and how it is reflected in our lives. With emphasis upon observation, line, form and composition, the visual material creates chimeras, fleeting glimpses of form and studies in light and texture. Using ambient and contemporary composition techniques, the accompanying soundtrack has been composed in order to convey the peace and tranquility of the ever flowing water, whilst also hinting at the inherent danger and power of the aquatic environment. This is an inspiring and truly contemporary audio visual experience.'
